REALITY CHECK (tm) VERIFIED USERS

1. What is a Reality Check Verified User?

Reality Check is the Internet's only identity verification system. Verified users are people who have physically been to a boyLA event and have been matched to their profile and picture.

2. Why is verification important?

Unlike other anonymous chat and personals sites, boyLA is based around a community of 'real' people with the opportunity to gather/interact together in a physical space on a regular basis. When you meet a verified user online you can have confidence that they are indeed 'real' and who they say they are.

3. How do I get verified?

It's so easy. You must be a boyLA member and have filled out your profile with real information and uploaded a real picture. Then just show up to a boyLA event and give the cashier your 4 digit Memneb ID and a valid Photo ID. They will check to make sure you signed up with your real full name (names will be kept confidential), birth date, and visually check that your picture is reasonably current and is actually you. Reasons you may not be verified: 1. Your birth date is not correct; 2. You signed up with a false name; 3. your Photo ID does not reasonably match your online picture.

4. I was verified, now I'm not?

This is most likely because you changed your main photo. If you update your picture you must be verified again at the next boyLA event.

RATINGS

1. Why isn't my picture showing up in Ratings?

You have opted not to participate in Ratings. To participate in ratings go to 'Preferences' and click 'Click to Add' under Participate in Ratings.

2. Why aren't I receiving anymore votes?

Once you have reached 500 votes your votes are reset to zero. If you are the top rated user when you reach your 500th vote you will be added to the boy hall of fame.

3. How do I reset my rating?

Uploading a new pic will reset your rating back to zero. This is a great feature to use if you'd like to see how different photos affect your rating. You may also reset your rating in the preferences area by turning 'Ratings' off then on again.

4. Do I have to be a member to vote?

You only have to sign up for boyLA.com in order to vote. Once you have signed up you can vote and give your opinion of how hot people are... or aren't.

5. I have a high enough rating to be in the top 10 but I'm not listed. Why?

We require people to obtain at least 75 votes before they are eligible for the top 10 list.

6. I heard 10s don't count. Is this true?

No.

6. I'm still confused whish is best 1 or 10?

10 is best of course. (aren't we all about bigger things?)

7. Are there any rules?

Yes, its easy... If you're going to play, play fair. Rate each and every user that is displayed, do not use the rating system to flip through pictures. A search feature is provided to browse pictures and profiles. We will not tolerate non-community activity such as: malicious low scoring of users or the use of multiple accounts to raise your personal score.

8. Someone is using my picture on your site. What should I do?

Please report any 'stolen' or 'fake' photos to webmaster@boyla.com. Be sure to include the nickname of the user in question.

PICTURES

1. I changed my main or additional pic, but the old one keeps coming up. What's wrong?

This is because the picture is cached by your browser on your computer. Your browser does this to make web surfing faster. It doesn't know that there is a new picture it should be displaying. Try holding "Ctrl" and pressing "F5" while viewing your profile or picture and see if it updates. If that doesn't work, don't worry, everyone else is seeing the new picture, and you're browser will eventually grab the updated picture as well.

2. How do I change or add pictures on my profile.

You can change your main picture by going to 'My Pictures' and simply uploading a new picture from your computer. Additional pictures can be changed or added by simply uploading a new picture from your computer under the additional pictures section of 'My Pictures'.

3. Why has my picture been removed?

Your picture may have violated our Image Guidelines, see below:

4. What kinds of pictures are acceptable on boyLA.com?

There are different criteria for "main" pictures and additional pictures. For main pictures, the following rules apply:

Images of Cartoon Characters may not be used.
Images of inanimate objects, such as your car or pets may not be used.
Baby pictures may not be used.
Images where your face is not visible and prominent may not be used.

For main and additional pictures, the following rules also apply:

Images cannot contain nudity, pornographic, or otherwise offensive imagery.
Images cannot contain any text, URL's, contact info or advertise any outside site or service.

5. When are pictures approved?

Pictures are generally approved between 10am and 5pm PST. So, the best time to upload your pictures is generally before then if you'd like a quick turn-around time.

6. Every time I try to register it says my image is too big or of the wrong type. What does this mean?

Images must be either JPEG (.jpg), GIF (.gif) or PNG (.png). Images files must be less then 200k. Maximum image size is 350 pixels x 350 pixels. There are many graphics programs available that can assist you in getting your images into this format and size.

7. Someone is using my picture on your site. What should I do?

Please report any 'stolen' or 'fake' photos to webmaster@boyla.com. Be sure to include the nickname of the user in question

PROFILES

1. Why should I enter real information?

Our meeting and matching system relies on the basic information you provide for us in your profile. In order for people to accurately search for other people, their information must be correct.

1. Why do I have to enter the area code where I live?

We use telephone area codes instead of zip codes to identify the general area in which you live. In order for people to accurately search for other people near them, their area codes must be correct.

PREFERENCES

1. Can I change my member name?

You cannot change your member name. Once you choose it, you're stuck with it.

2. How do I delete my account?

You can delete your account from 'Preferences' by clicking the 'Remove Me' button under Delete Account.

3. I deleted my account, now I want it back. Can I get it back.

Nope. Once we receive a delete request from you, the account is deleted permanently within 12 hours.

MATCHES

1. How do I add a person to my Match List?

From Ratings: you must checkmark 'Meet' before selecting a rating; from a search: click 'Add to Matches' and they will be added to 'I Want to Meet...' in your Match List.

2. How do I add a person to 'Perfect Matches' in my Match List?

You can only add people who are in your 'They Want to Meet...' list to 'Perfect Matches'. To add them, click their username and once their profile is opened, look for "Do you want to meet this person?" and select 'YES' and they will be added to your 'Perfect Matches' list.

3. Why do people disappear from my 'I Want to Meet' list?

Unfortunately, that means they either haven't looked at their Match List in 30 days or... they probably clicked "NO" when asked if they want to meet you. :(

4. I want to meet someone but don't have the Match option. Why?

Both people must be participating in Matches for you to see the Match option. Make sure you have Matched turned on in the Preferences section.

MAIL

1. How long do messages stay in my folder?

Old messages will be available in your inbox for 30 days at which time it is deleted from the system completely.

2. How come I can't send a message to another user?

You can only send messages to 'Perfect Matches'. Perfect Matches are made when both you and another person want to meet. You cannot send messages to users if they are in "I WANT TO MEET..." or "THEY WANT TO MEET..."

ACCOUNT

1.Why do I get "user account unable to access this section"?

A confirmation email was sent to the email address you used when you registered for your boyLA account. You must follow the instructions in this email to fully activate your account. Unconfirmed accounts will be periodically removed from the system. If you did not receive this email please contact webmaster@boyla.com with your nickname and correct email address.

2.It says my account has been deactivated. Why?

If your account has been shut off is is most likely due to one of the following reasons:

You did not use a real name or address when you signed up.
You created an obscene or vulgar nickname.
You have repeatedly violated image rules.(see pictures)
You have more than one account on the system.
Malicious voting in the ratings section. (see ratings)
Your profile or photo have been reported as 'fake'.
You have not logged into your account for more than 30 days.
